Here are the Lyrics:
My conversations with God
Get longer as time goes by,
Not because He was ever distant,
But because I ask better questions now than when I was young and running by.
I used to come with wishes,
With bargains, fear, and pride,
Now I mostly come with honesty,
And leave the rest aside.
I told Him, “Lord, I’ve stumbled,
I have not done all things right.”
He said, “Child, I knew that long ago,
And still I held you tight.”
I said, “There’s pain in growing older,
In watching seasons pass.”
He said, “There’s beauty in the cracks,
And wisdom in the glass.”
I asked Him why the road gets steep,
Why hearts get bruised and torn,
He said, “Because through every loss,
A deeper soul is born.”
I said, “What of the ones
Who don’t get all these years?
The ones who leave while still so young,
With dreams and plans and tears?”
He said, “No life is ever measured
By the number of its days,
But by the love it leaves behind,
The light it chose to raise.”
“Some are called at sunrise,
Some at noon, some near the night,
But every soul I fashioned
Was made for more than earthly sight.”
I asked Him, “What should people know,
Before they’re called back home?”
He said, “That they were never made
To walk this world alone.”
“Tell them grace is real,
And mercy still is free,
Tell them I can calm a storm
No one else can see.”
“Tell them not to waste their years
On bitterness and pride,
For peace is born when truth and love
Are standing side by side.”
“Tell them say the needed words,
‘I love you,’ ‘I forgive,’
For too many wait till time runs out
Before they start to live.”
“Tell them every humble prayer,
Though whispered, still is heard,
And heaven leans in close enough
To catch each trembling word.”
I said, “Lord, some are frightened
Of the day they breathe their last.”
He said, “Death is but a doorway,
Not an erasing of the past.”
“When I call my children home,
I do not call in spite,
I call them into fullness,
From faith into clear sight.”
“And those who trust and love Me
Need not fear that final breath,
For I have walked ahead of them
And taken sting from death.”
So now our talks are quieter,
No fancy words, no show,
Just me and God in honest truth,
Talking soft and low.
And if you hear this message
Before your day is done,
Know your life is deeply known,
And your story matters, every one.
Do not wait for silver hair,
Do not wait for aching bone,
To learn that God still wants your heart
Before He calls you home.
So walk in love, speak kindly,
Let gratitude be grown,
And when your name is finally called,
You’ll never walk alone.
