Image

Choosing a "Safe" AI

Image
https://youtu.be/gKTH2uW3c-M Choosing an AI tool can feel like walking into a digital candy store where every wrapper says, “Trust me!” But not every AI platform deserves your personal information, your files, or your confidence. In this Bob The Cyber-Guy tutorial, we take a plain-English look at how everyday users can choose a safer AI platform without falling for hype, miracle claims, or privacy traps. You’ll learn what to watch for before signing up, what information you should never share, why privacy settings matter, and why “free” is not always as free as it looks. AI can be helpful, impressive, and sometimes downright amazing — but it should be treated like a helpful stranger, not a locked vault. Stay safe, stay curious, and remember — you’re never too old to outsmart a risky AI tool. The AI "Common Sense" Trap - Why a "Reset" Isn't Always the Answer

Image
Caution: AI is smart, but it often lacks common sense. I recently ran into a frustrating wall with Google Chrome. I wanted to add a new shortcut to my home screen, but the "Add Shortcut" button had simply vanished. Naturally, I asked the built-in AI (Gemini) for help. The AI gave me a "nuclear" solution: "Reset your Chrome settings to factory defaults." The Problem? If I had followed that advice, I would have wiped out my saved passwords, pinned tabs, and custom settings—and it would not have fixed the problem.   The Truth: Chrome has a hard limit of 10 shortcuts . Once you hit 10, the button disappears. There was nothing "broken" in my settings; the "room" was just full. The AI was smart enough to know how to reset a browser, but not "common sense" smart enough to count to ten.  Bob’s Advice: 1. Count before you Click: If a feature disappears, check if you’ve hit a limit. 2. Question "Nuclear" Advice: If an AI ...
