I’ve been scratching my head over something lately. In the recent NYC primary, it looked like voters were rallying behind someone pushing far-left policies — not just left-of-center, but deep into socialist territory.

And suddenly, the word “communism” starts flying around like it’s the new buzzword on the block.

But let’s get something straight - if people really want full-blown communism, why not move to a country thats already tried it — like Russia or China — and see how that’s working out?

Here in the U.S., we’re supposed to be a constitutional democracy — where power lies with the people, and laws protect the freedoms we all enjoy. But when you start trading that away for buzzwords and free stuff, you’re not just shifting left — you’re shifting off course.

The problem - A lot of folks are tossing around terms like they’re interchangeable. But they’re not.

Let’s break it down:

Equality means we all start with the same rules and the same shot.

Equity, in today’s political language, means we manipulate the outcome so everyone finishes at the same place — even if it means cutting someone down to raise someone else up.

Socialism means government controls major resources and services.

Communism means no private property, no individual ownership — just the state, running everything.

And Democracy - That’s supposed to be our system — where we elect people to serve us, not to force ideology down our throats or play social engineer with our lives.

But when people don’t understand the difference between equity and equality - Or socialism and communism - Or how any of those ideas chip away at democracy…

They end up voting for things that sound good — but break everything that’s actually working.

And that’s the danger. Not just bad policy — but the slow, sneaky erosion of the very system that gives them the right to vote in the first place.

So yeah, maybe they’re not communists. Maybe they’re just confused.

Stay safe, stay secure and maybe what we really need isn’t a revolution — it’s a good, old-fashioned civics lesson.
