Let me ask you something that might go against what we’ve been taught all our lives

What if giving — yes, giving — doesn’t make you poorer? - What if it actually makes you richer?

And no, I’m not trying to sell you a feel-good bumper sticker or some recycled fortune cookie wisdom. I’m talking about a real, practical truth that we tend to overlook in a world that loves to measure wealth with bank accounts, square footage, and the number of zeroes on a paycheck.

Let’s start with something simple.

Have you ever given someone a genuine compliment? - Or your time?  - Or a hot meal? - Or maybe you donated a few bucks to a cause you believe in?

How’d that make you feel?

If you’re like most people — and I mean people with a working heart — you felt good - Connected.

Like maybe, just maybe, the world got a little less selfish for a second - And that matters - A lot.

See, when you give — whether it’s money, time, love, or even just attention — you’re not losing something.

You’re creating something.

You’re building bridges.

You’re lighting candles in rooms someone else thought would stay dark forever.

You’re saying, “I see you, and you matter.”

And the funny thing is, when you do that, something unexpected happens - You matter more too.

Let’s break this down.

Financial giving - Sure, that’s great - But giving isn’t limited to writing checks.

You can give your time — and that’s often more valuable than money.

You can give your attention — and in today’s distracted world, that’s practically a superpower.

You can give encouragement, kindness, mentorship, forgiveness.

You can give someone a chance.

And none of that leaves you with less - In fact, it multiplies.

Giving creates community - It creates purpose - It creates joy — not just for the receiver, but for you.

Studies even back this up — science agrees that generous people tend to live longer, have lower stress levels, and enjoy better mental health.

Generosity doesn’t deplete you - It expands you.

And let me be blunt here - hoarding isn’t the flex we think it is. You can pile up all the money, time, and energy you want, but if you never use it to lift someone else up, what’s the point?

You’re not a vault - You’re a human being - A living, breathing conduit for good.

Now, I’m not saying give beyond your means - I’m not saying put yourself in the red just to prove you’ve got a heart. That’s not giving — that’s guilt-driven sacrifice - And that doesn’t help anyone.

What I am saying is this:

When you give from a place of joy, not obligation, you become wealthier in ways no spreadsheet can track.

Your sense of purpose deepens, Your relationships grow, Your perspective widens.

And your legacy — well, that gets stronger with every act of kindness you put into the world.

You know, people talk a lot about leaving a mark - Building a name - Creating a legacy.

But here’s a little secret — your legacy isn’t built by what you keep - It’s built by what you give away.

So give - Not to impress, not to feel superior, not to tick a box.

Give because it's who you are — or who you want to be.

And don’t keep score - Life’s not a scoreboard - It’s a story.

And the best stories -They’re the ones where someone showed up for someone else.

So no, giving doesn’t make you poorer.

It makes you rich — in all the ways that count.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s the kind of wealth the world needs more of.
