I had all but given up hope of ever restoring this image of my Grandfather until an article in Android Authority pointed out a remarkable feature of Gemini AI's  - Nano Banana (Image Generation) 

I took a picture of the faded image, used it as an input in Gemini and asked it to put Nano Banana to work restoring that faded image. You be the judge - I am amazed by the results.
