You hear it every day — AI is taking over jobs, AI is destroying industries, AI is the big bad wolf coming for your paycheck.
Well, I’ve got a slightly different story to tell.
You see, I didn’t get laid off because of AI. Maybe that’s because, well, I’m retired. My boss can’t fire me — unless my wife figures out how to file the paperwork!
But here’s the truth - AI hasn’t been a threat in my life. It’s been a boon. A partner. A creative sidekick that never sleeps, never complains, and somehow knows the difference between Beethoven and Bieber (most days, anyway).
In the past year alone, I’ve created more — songs, stories, videos, blog posts, you name it — than I probably did in the ten years before that. That’s not because I suddenly turned into a creative machine. It’s because I’ve learned to work with AI, not against it.
Now, let’s be honest - AI has replaced a lot of jobs - That’s true.
Pretending otherwise is like pretending my old Commodore 64 could run Windows 11 - It just can’t.
The real secret isn’t in resisting AI — it’s in learning how to use it wisely.
Used properly, cautiously, and with a good dose of common sense, AI can become your most productive assistant. It helps you brainstorm, edit, organize, create, and even fix your grammar when your fingers decide to take the day off. I personally use my voice to do the typing for me most of the time.
AI can’t replace passion. It can’t replace purpose. It can’t replace the spark that makes you — you.
So while some folks fear AI will take their livelihood, I’m using it to extend mine — to keep learning, growing, and creating.
Retirement used to mean slowing down. But with AI by my side, I’ve found a new rhythm — one where curiosity never retires. Heck, I've even become a music writer and producer.
So no, I didn’t get laid off because of AI. I got inspired because of it.
And if you’re still wondering whether AI is here to take over, I’ll leave you with this thought:
AI is like fire — uncontrolled, it burns - Controlled, it lights the way. 🔥
